What the complaints were about
- tank — 34% of this year's complaints, against 9.1% across the model's other years (3.7×). Owners wrote it as: tank, fuel, fuel tank, filled.
- gas — 21.2% of this year's complaints, against 2.7% across the model's other years (7.8×).
- stall — 24% of this year's complaints, against 5.5% across the model's other years (4.4×). Owners wrote it as: stall, occurs, throttle, gasoline.
Words owners used for the same problem are counted together, so a fault written four different ways is measured once. Grouped by which complaints they appear in, not by a list anyone wrote in advance.
Also unusual this year
- gas — 21% of complaints, 9× usual
- stalls — 13% of complaints, 28× usual
- fuel — 20% of complaints, 4× usual
What owners wrote
WHEN I FILL MY GAS TANK WITH FUEL THE MOTOR STALLS AND GOES DEAD CONTINUOUSLY FOR ABOUT 15 MILES THEN IT GETS BETTER BUT IT WILL DIE SOMETIMES AS MANY AS 5 OR 6 TIMES.
FOR FOUR YEARS MY VEHICLE STALLS EACH TIME I PUT GASOLINE IN THE TANK. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I HAVE STALLED IN AN INTERSECTION AS WELL AS BUSY ROADS.

How this was worked out
Every year of the Dodge Magnum was compared against its own history rather than against other cars, which removes popularity and age from the answer — a common car draws more complaints at equal reliability, and an older one has had longer to accumulate them. A year is flagged when it drew at least 2.5× this model's median and at least 50 complaints.
This is a fault record, not a review. Nobody files a federal complaint to say the car was fine, so it shows what tends to go wrong — not whether owners liked it, and not whether it is a good car.
